Estimating a Tractor's Speed

There comes a time when you need to know the speed of a tractor. Use a stopwatch and a known distance in feet to time the tractor. You can measure out the distance or if you know the length of a machine shed, use that distance. Once you know the number of seconds to cover the distance use the following formula or the calculator below.

MPH = Feet / Seconds x 0.6818181818

Note: Longer distances make more accurate estimations.
